Roosmarijn Middag
My name is Roosmarijn Middag, I am 18 years old and I live in Leerdam, the Netherlands. I have completed my HAVO secondary school education, and in the future I would love to turn my passion for horses into a career. Besides riding, I enjoy working out, being creative and spending time with family and friends.
My mother has always had horses, so my love for horses and equestrian sport began at a very young age. I was absolutely thrilled when I received my very first riding lesson at Het Zesspan for my fifth birthday. That first lesson actually ended rather quickly with a fall from the pony! Luckily, I am someone who perseveres, so I simply carried on taking lessons.
It wasn’t long before I got my first pony: a four-year-old category A pony who is still with us today. We learned and experienced so much together. We won almost every Bixie competition we entered. I also had the opportunity to compete at the regional championships with my category B pony at a young age. We even won twice, which of course meant we qualified for the Dutch National Championships as well.
When I moved on to category D ponies, I became increasingly dedicated to the sport. I trained Cremebrulee Bloemendael and Crumble Bloemendael myself from the age of three. It was an incredibly rewarding experience that also brought us a lot of success! In total, I became regional champion five times with my category D ponies. I also competed at the Dutch National Championships several times, achieving a third and a fifth place.
I am now focusing on my three-year-old horse, Toblerone Bloemendael. I hope we can go a long way together in dressage. My biggest dream is to compete at the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses one day, and later at a European Championship too.
Of course, I also continue to care for my category A pony. We keep our horses at home, which means I spend a lot of time with them every day. Their health, care and welfare always come first. It is important to me that they feel good and enjoy their work.
Because our horses’ health and welfare are our top priorities, we believe it is important to make thoughtful choices about their nutrition. We have now been feeding Hartog for three years!
We first discovered Hartog through Jasmijn Noordzij. During a competition
