WHY Hartog Comfort

For an adult horse without special attention points, feeding can be simple. Hartog Comfort is a fibre-rich roughage mix with a built-in balancer: dried grass with pea and lupine flakes for good-quality protein, and carrot flakes for taste. One kilo covers the daily vitamin and mineral requirement of a 600 kg horse. Next to hay or grass, you do not need a separate balancer or roughage mix.

What makes Hartog Comfort an all-in-one feed?

Most rations combine three parts: roughage, a roughage mix for structure and a balancer for vitamins and minerals. Hartog Comfort brings the last two together in one bag. The fibres keep your horse chewing for longer, and the vitamins, minerals and organically bound trace elements complete the hay.

Which horses is it suitable for?

Adult leisure horses without specific attention points. For a sensitive digestion, Hartog Digest with Hartog Essential is the better combination. For older horses that can no longer eat enough hay, look at Hartog Senior.

Does my horse still need hay?

Yes. Hartog Comfort completes roughage, it does not replace it. Roughage should always be available at sufficient amounts.

Hartog Comfort comes in 18 kg bags. Feed it in two or more meals next to roughage that is always available at sufficient amounts. Because the balancer is already inside, there is no need for extra vitamin or mineral supplements unless your vet advises otherwise. The feed calculator on this page gives a starting amount.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why should I feed Hartog Comfort instead of regular pellets/muesli?

Hartog Comfort is a complete replacement for concentrate feeds or balancers. It is formulated to feed horses in the way that suits them best: based on forage! This feeding approach comes with many advantages such as:

- Longer feeding time with Hartog Comfort.

- Increased salivation with Hartog Comfort.

- Can be fed as the first meal (before hay).

- Can be fed before and after riding.

- Hartog Comfort has low sugar and starch content.

- Feeding Hartog Comfort provides your horse with additional forage.

By feeding Hartog Comfort, you supply your horse with all the daily required vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Additionally, the levels of vitamin E and biotin have been increased to provide optimal support to your horse.

Is Hartog Comfort a complete supplement to roughage?

Yes! Hartog Comfort provides your horse with all the daily required vitamins, minerals, and trace elements, including extra vitamin E and biotin. So, there's no need to feed any additional balancers or concentrate feeds alongside Hartog Comfort. Even the supplementation of vitamin E or biotin is unnecessary! If your horse has increased energy and/or protein needs due to heavy work, it may be necessary to combine Hartog Comfort with something like Hartog Lucerne Pellets. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to learn more about Hartog Comfort for your horse.

Why has extra vitamin E been added to Hartog Comfort?

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that can support horses when they are, for example, recovering, stressed, or undergoing training. Vitamin E levels in hay and forage can fluctuate and be very low, as the vitamin E content quickly decreases after harvesting. Vitamin E has been added to Hartog Comfort to ensure its content. This way, you are not reliant on uncertain values and can be sure that your horse does not have deficiencies in its diet. The vitamin E content in Hartog Comfort is not adjusted to the minimum but to the optimal daily amount. Therefore, you don't need to provide a vitamin E supplement when feeding Hartog Comfort.
