Product FAQ's

Is this product high in sugars and starch?
No, there is 5.3% sugar and 1.1% starch in this product, this is very low. Lower even than what is contained in standard hay/forage for horses. For this reason, Hartog Digest is also very suitable for feeding to horses that are sensitive to sugar or have to be fed low-sugar feed for medical reasons.
Why does this product contain glycerin?
Our forages contain not only the stems but also the leaf material of the forage. The stalks provide structure and fibre, but most of the forage's nutrients are in the leaves. Glycerine is added to bind the leaf material to the stalks, making it easier for the horse to eat. Our glycerin is a vegetable by-product. The advantage of glycerin is that it does not contain any sugar, unlike molasses, for example.
How does Hartog Digest support my horse?
Hartog Digest is specially formulated to support your horse's digestive system. The support consists of two parts. Firstly, the Digest is based on roughage, which extends eating time and stimulates saliva production. Secondly, Hartog Digest contains additives that support your horse's digestive system such as postbiotics, magnesium, alfalfa and linseed oil. The added magnesium and alfalfa are both beneficial for neutralising stomach acid. In addition, Digest contains postbiotics. Postbiotics provides the right combination of metabolites to nourish the microbiota, keep it balanced and support intestinal health.
