Hartog Compact Grass

€ 20,15

Provide your horse with high-quality forage with Hartog Compact Grass! These convenient hay bales weighing 18 kilograms are perfect for use in the stable, during transportation, or at competitions.

Looking for a practical solution to provide your horse with high-quality forage? Choose Hartog Compact Grass! The grass is locally harvested, carefully dried, and sieved in our factory before being compressed into compact bales.

Hartog Compact is highly suitable for horses with dust allergies or sensitive airways. In many cases, horses do not react to the leaf material (dust) itself but to the molds and bacteria present in the leaf material of hay or pre-cut forage. Because Hartog Compact Grass is artificially dried, these molds and bacteria are not present in the leaf material. Therefore, many horses with sensitive lungs respond very well to artificially dried forage.

Hartog Compact Grass can be used as a partial or complete forage replacement. Artificial drying creates a product with consistent quality and a high level of nutrients, which is beneficial for horses with sensitive digestive systems. In addition to nutrients, the grass also retains its taste and aroma better, making Hartog Compact Grass suitable for picky eaters.

To facilitate artificial drying, the grass is chopped, making Hartog Compact Grass highly digestible for horses with reduced chewing ability.

Compact Grass is also ideal for horse owners with limited storage space. Because the grass is compacted, it takes up little space, and the plastic wrap makes it easy to move around.

Product FAQ's

What is the advantage of this product compared to 'regular' hay or haylage?
Because this product has been dried in our drying drum, as opposed to several days under the sun, it preserves the nutrients in the product better. Artificial drying not only conserves nutrients but also results in a pleasant odor and taste. Artificial drying leads to a very consistent quality, which can be beneficial for horses with sensitive lungs or a sensitive digestive system.
How long will it take my horse to finish one compact bale?
A horse should consume at least 1.5 kg of dry matter roughage per 100 kg body weight daily. A bale of this product weighs about 18 kg, a 600 kg horse, depending on its other rations, will get about two days with a bale of Compact Grass.
Can I feed Hartog Compact Grass to my horse with a dust allergy?
Yes! In many cases, horses don't react to the leaf material (dust) itself but to the molds and bacteria present in the leaf material of hay or pre-dried forage. Because Compact Grass is artificially dried, these molds and bacteria are not present in the leaf material. This is why many horses with sensitive lungs respond very well to artificially dried roughage.
