About Greetje Hakvoort

My name is Greetje Hakvoort. I live and work with great love together with my family in the heart of the Veluwe, surrounded by horses, dogs, and nature. Horses have been part of who I am my entire life. As a child, I just as happily rode bareback into the world as I immersed myself in dressage and other disciplines.

There has always been one common thread: curiosity, feeling, and the desire to truly understand what happens between horse and human — and how personal development plays a role in that connection.

This curiosity about development, connection, growth, and creativity later became the foundation of the Human & Horse Academy: a place where experience, knowledge, and intuition come together, and where horses and humans can meet each other as they truly are.

What inspires me

What inspires me are transformations — seeing people, horses, and also myself develop and step into their power, both mentally and physically. It remains special to experience how many different perspectives there are from which you, as a trainer, can truly make a difference — and how possibilities become visible even before they seem to exist.

Horses invite us to slow down, to feel, and to trust the process. During our accredited hands-on training programs, it is wonderful to see students — with or without their own horse — grow. To witness confidence emerging, cooperation deepening, and learning becoming something to truly enjoy again.

Within every horse lives a king or queen. And every human carries a unique strength within. This awareness forms the core of everything we do within the Academy: training from the heart, with attention, trust, joy, and appreciation for every step of the journey together.

Our approach

Within the Human & Horse Academy, I guide horses and humans in strengthening their relationship. The focus lies on groundwork, because that is where calmness arises, communication becomes clear, and trust can grow. From this solid foundation, space naturally emerges to continue developing together, within any discipline.

Wellbeing and growth begin with enjoyment, curiosity, and connection. Dreaming, discovering, and learning together make the process meaningful — even when things become challenging or you feel stuck. Those very moments offer new opportunities and invite deeper reflection and growth.

Together with our entire team, we create a safe, warm, and welcoming learning environment within the Academy, where both horses and humans feel seen, heard, and supported.

Our offer

Through our online learning platform, our training programs and Gua Sha courses for both humans and horses are accessible to horse lovers around the world. This has led to the creation of an international Human & Horse Community: a place where there is space for every person and every horse, both online and offline — connected by the same values: attention, trust, and development from the heart.

At the Academy, students can stay overnight with their horses, enjoy the beautiful hacking routes, and participate in accredited instructor and therapist training programs, suitable for both hobbyists and professionals.

Our herd

The herd of the Human & Horse Academy is truly a cheerful spotted bunch. Our horses and dogs are visibly part of daily life at the Academy and can also be seen in our photos. Each animal brings its own character, energy, and story, and together they form the heart of our place.

Hartog

We have proudly been part of the Hartog Family for many years. Hartog provides the right ration for all my ponies and horses, with plenty of forage options and variation. This perfectly aligns with my vision of health, wellbeing, and tailored nutrition for every horse. It forms the foundation for allowing horses to transform from the inside out.
