What makes the Hartog Essential so special?

Unlike traditional feeds, the levels of vitamins, minerals and trace elements in Hartog Essential are not based on minimum, but on optimal values for your horse. This makes the product unique. And, ensures that your horse gets all the essential daily nutrients. The product contains organically bound trace elements for optimal absorption.

Why extra vitamin E in a balancer?

Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, is increased to supplement levels to best support recovering, stressed or performing horses. Vitamin E levels in hay or haylage can often be low. Hartog Essential offers the assurance of guaranteed levels of this essential nutrient.

What is a balancer?

Hartog Essential is a balancer this means it is highly concentrated in vitamins, minerals and trace elements and does not provide a large amount of energy. Unlike a balancer, concentrates are intended to provide extra energy (and in some cases protein). As a result, concentrate is a lot less concentrated in vitamins, minerals and trace elements than a balancer. Average concentrate is calculated for a minimum feed ration of 2 kg per day (horse 600 kg). Many horses are given less than the recommended amount of concentrate because it makes them too hot or too fat, for instance. In many cases, these horses do not get enough vitamins, minerals and trace elements. With a balancer, horses are provided with their vitamin, mineral and trace element requirements without the need for concentrates.
