Grasdrogerij Hartog focuses on production: scaling down drying from 2025

Thursday, 7th November 2024

Lambertschaag, Grasdrogerij Hartog B.V. has decided to gradually phase out the drying process. Drying will continue in 2025, but starting in 2026, the drying process will be completely discontinued. This strategic decision was made after considering various factors, including rising energy costs, land availability, increased maintenance costs, and high crop supply costs.

Over the next 24 months, existing contracts for crop drying will be honored and completed as agreed. Hartog will remain committed to fulfilling all ongoing obligations.

FOCUS ON THE FUTURE: Animal feeds with added value

Although we will be scaling down the drying process, Hartog will remain active in the production of animal feed. The focus is on further developing innovative products that add value for our customers. This change will allow us to expand and strengthen our production capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why are you phasing out the drying process?
We have decided to gradually phase out the drying process for crops in our factory for several reasons:
    • Land and Energy: Due to limited availability of land and energy, we need to use our resources more efficiently.
    • Focus: We want to concentrate on developing new, innovative products for our customers.
  2. What will happen to the current drying contracts?
The existing contracts for alfalfa will be honored and completed as agreed. We will ensure that all ongoing obligations are properly fulfilled.
  3. Until when can crops be dried under contract?
It will be possible to have crops dried at Hartog until the fall of 2024. After this date, we will completely stop the contract drying process.
  4. What are the implications for the company’s production capacity?
The phase-out of the drying process allows Hartog to expand our production capacity. This means we can allocate more resources to the production of new products, with a greater focus on value-added roughage products.
  5. How can I obtain more information or discuss specific concerns?
If you have any questions about this transition or would like to discuss how we can further strengthen our collaboration, please feel free to contact us.
