Hi, I’m Pia, and I’m from Lower Saxony in northern Germany. I work full-time at a health insurance company. In addition, I’m active on social media, but I don’t want to give up my main job — I truly enjoy it.
As a child, I first sat on a pony at a fair. From that moment, I continued riding at a riding school. After a long break from riding, I returned to equestrian sport as an adult, around the age of 20, with my first horse of my own.
At the moment, I have one horse, Hope. We mainly compete in dressage — you’ll only find us in the dressage arena at competitions. Outside of competition season, we enjoy going on hacks, doing groundwork, and occasionally teaching her a few tricks.
We’ve faced our challenges, especially regarding Hope’s health, as she has equine asthma. I had to quickly learn a lot about this condition, as I bought Hope without knowing she had it. In the beginning, she was also quite dangerous under saddle: she often reared and was sometimes barely controllable. With time, trust, and proper management, the rearing has almost completely disappeared, and her asthma is now well under control. I’m especially proud that we are currently competing at M level while working hard on the exercises required for S level.
I place great value on quality and on nutrition that keeps my horse healthy — which aligns perfectly with the core values of Hartog. Healthy horses simply look fantastic. Hope shines, her muscle tone is excellent, and her willingness to work is always there. Healthy, high-quality feed is the most important factor we can influence as owners to improve our horse’s wellbeing. I want to raise awareness about Hartog and highlight the importance of species-appropriate nutrition.
