The Story of Lucile Verdonck, Who Fulfilled Her Dream of Working with Horses

Where It All Began

“After my middle school diploma, I immediately focused on studies with an apprenticeship in the equestrian field. I had no family background in horses, so I had to figure things out on my own. The apprenticeship allowed me to learn the trade and also enabled me to buy my first competition horse. After a BEPA in equine activities and a BAC PRO in CGEA, I continued my studies with a BPJEPS because my goal was to gain experience but eventually create my own structure and teach horse owners.”

Spending time with horses and taking care of them was just as important to me as working with them. I chose to become a groom to be around top-level horses.

“I’m very happy with my career and don’t regret anything. I’ve evolved alongside Romain Potin, Pierre Alain Mortier, Michel Robert, and René Lopez.”

Last June, I decided to end my career as a groom. Back in my home region, the North, I set up my own business. For now, I’m itinerant, moving between different stables to teach horse owners, train horses, and more.

🐎 Quémi du Cygne, my first horse. Quémi is a French trotter that my mom and I saved from slaughter in 2006 when he was just two years old.

🐎 Miel Pops du Pontot is a male Selle Français who will be two soon. Miel Pops comes from a small family breeding farm owned by my best friend.”
