Arthur van Rooij

My name is Arthur van Rooij (55 years young), and I am from Sint-Michielsgestel. I am married to Tineke and the proud father of our three daughters: Evi, Sofie, and Nina. Equestrian sport has been part of my life from a very young age, as I come from a passionate horse-loving family. My father was a showjumper and later became a showjumping judge, together with my mother. My brother and sisters were all involved in the sport as well. I myself have been an active rider since the age of four.

In daily life, I run a hair salon in ’s-Hertogenbosch with twelve employees, which I combine with equestrian sport.

What I am most proud of is how we manage, as a family, to compete in top-level sport together. That motivates us every single day to take care of the training and management of all our horses. At the moment, we have six dressage horses at home: three young horses in training and three competition horses competing at higher levels.

Our goal is to compete at the highest possible level. Over the years, we have had the opportunity to compete in many Regional (BK), National (NK), and European (EK) Championships. Our most special and cherished moments so far have been the European Championships, in which all three of our daughters have successfully competed multiple times.

The welfare of our horses is our top priority. They spend many hours outside in the pasture and/or paddocks, and we train on average four times a week, with rest days in between.
