The Story of Hassen and Peyo
It was in 2011 that Hassen Bouchakour adopted Peyo, his stallion. They come from the world of performance and spectacle. It was during his shows that Hassen noticed his horse’s atypical behavior: usually fiery and reluctant to physical contact with humans, Peyo displayed a unique behavior, becoming gentle and protective with certain people, some of whom we later learned had passed away shortly after.
A One-of-a-Kind Stallion
Through observation, time, and patience, Hassen understood that his horse always chose individuals who were emotionally, physically, and psychologically weakened. With the help of veterinary experts and doctors (oncologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, and researchers), Hassen participated with Peyo in scientific research programs in palliative care departments.
Peyo: A Horse Capable of Detecting Cancer and Tumors in Humans
After 4 years of research and observations and after testing over 500 horses in recent years (including his own foals), doctors and veterinarians have observed this brain function, exclusively in Peyo.
What professionals and scientists are studying today is his instinctive ability to detect cancer and tumors in humans, and his choice to accompany certain patients until their last breath.
Thus, after years of competitions and equestrian performances, this duo stepped away from the spotlight to enter a radically different world: that of medicine, solidarity, and human dignity.
